There’s a story to be imagined in each of Eva Lundsager’s paintings on view at the Academy Art Museum through January 26. Half good-humored fantasy, half anxious apocalyptic visions, her paintings and monoprints are ecstatic eruptions of color and activity that hover between landscape and abstraction.

Eva Lundsager's abstract paintings evoke expansiveness and a sense of watchful waiting. Structured as an imagined, changing space, imagery simultaneously specific and indeterminate suggests life forms moving through atmosphere, over a planet's surface, and deep into solid ground.

She received her BA from the University of Maryland and MFA from Hunter College.

Eva Rothschild was born in Dublin, Ireland. She received a BA in Fine Art from the University of Ulster, Belfast (1990-93), and an MA in Fine Art from Goldsmith’s College, London (1997-99). Her work is predominantly sculptural, and she works across a range of materials including aluminium, jesmonite, leather, fabric and perspex.
